Fall brings many events to Princeton and Bureau County Fairgrounds. The new event called the Monster Mash Balloon Bash comes to the Fairgrounds on Saturday night, October 12th. The event starts with a Halloween Parade on Main Street at 5 pm. The parade will begin at Soldiers and Sailors Park (Court House) and continue north on Main to Central Street.There it will turn and head to the Fairgrounds. Following the parade please enter the parking lot behind Beck’s Gas or from Crown Street to park. The main gate on Rt 6 will be closed for this event.
The Hocus Pocus Hags will be dancing at the Fairgrounds following the parade at approximately 6:15 pm. Other events during the evening will be Trunk or Treat for kids, a Petting Zoo, Food Trucks and Mummies Café with great food, a bonfire, a cake walk and an outdoor movie too. Several of these events will be held in the barn next to the balloon glow. Bring your lawn chairs for the movie. Admission is free for these events with the exception of the Haunted house and the balloon rides.
There will be several hot air balloons at the Fairgrounds with a chance for you to take a tethered ride in one of them. Please see the Chamber of Commerce website www.princetonchamber-IL.com for the ticket ordering program. There are a limited number of reservations available. The rides start at 4:30 pm. and the balloons will glow from 6 to 8 pm. Bring your cameras!
Want to go to a haunted house? There will be a special “Lights On” event for kids and scaredy cats at Nightmare Haunted Attraction from 6:30 pm to 7 pm. Be ready for the spooks to fill the haunted barns at 7 pm. Nightmare will scare and amaze you from 7 pm to 10 pm and tickets are only $15 per person. Mummies Café will be open until 10 pm with tasty treats and hot and cold drinks. Nightmare Haunted Attraction has been a feature at Bureau County Fairgrounds for 20 years. They will be open every Friday and Saturday night in October.
Other October Events
Fall Craft and Vendor Show and Flea Market will be held in the exhibit halls on Sunday, October 20th from 8 am to 2 pm. Over 30 vendors will be selling homemade crafts and gift items, fall decorations, Halloween items, popcorn, baskets, blankets, tumblers, collectibles and much more. Free admission. The Sauk Trail Gun Collectors Show and Sale will be held Saturday and Sunday, Oct 26 & 27th with doors opening at 8:30 a.m.
Winter Storage of boats and campers will be held on Sat. Nov 2nd at 9 a.m. The fee is $9 per foot. Please fill out the contract on the Fair website and bring it with proof of insurance that day.
